2018 National Day of Prayer

When I think of the tragic events that occurred over the past year — hurricanes and fires ravaging thousands of homes; innocent lives violently taken; families at war over political differences… Oh, how my heart aches for our nation. Our country is suffering from so much division and moral decay — broken at its very core, and in need of great healing and restoration. It’s why I am asking you to join me and Christians across the U.S. in praying for our nation’s leaders, military, churches, and families. It’s not too early to begin planning now for the National Day of Prayer, to be held on May 3rd.

Talk to your church leadership about announcing it in your Sunday bulletin; consider hosting a special prayer time in your home; spread the word on Facebook; or make plans to come and attend the Washington, DC events! Just check out the National Day of Prayer website for free resources on how to plan and pray. As never before, we must rally our communities to plead for God's mercies on our troubled nation. This year’s theme verse is Ephesians 4:3, which encourages us to “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” I just know that together, in one accord, our prayers will make a powerful difference!

Thanks so much Joni for your love for America and the deep need for us as believers to repent and cry out for mercy to God. As Prayer Coordinator for Ohio for the National Day of Prayer, we will be meeting at the Columbus Statehouse at the Atrium on that day, as we come before the Lord for forgiveness. I join with you and your ministry, as we collectively pray for UNITY for all peoples, races and ages. We acknowledge the Lord and proclaim Him as King of Kings. Nancy M. Garver
