Joni and Kelly in the recording studioThanks, friends, for praying!! We really sensed your intercessions today during radio recording!! Sure, I had to stop a few times to swallow honey (that’s intern Kelley Hansbrough with the honey bear and the spoonful of sweet stuff), but we made it – we started at 10:00 am and stopped moments ago at 4:15 pm. So bless you for praying – it thrills my heart to think of the thousands of listeners on the radio and over the internet who’ll be inspired and encouraged (and even those who listen when they’re put on ‘hold’ here at the office)! &

Joni and Rainey in the studio recording Joni and Friends radio programsToday is Radio Recording Day here at Joni and Friends, and that means a full morning and afternoon of speaking into a microphone – however, I awoke this morning with a raspy throat, so I really need your prayers. Ask God to not only anoint these messages and fill my lungs with air, but pray that He will miraculously touch my vocal cords to remove the ‘gravel’ sound! I know that I will be pausing often in the studio to ask for God's help, so bless you for joining me, friend!

Destiny, Puppy-in-TrainingLast week, Destiny’s puppy-raiser, Gene Newman, brought her to Joni and Friends in her little Guide Dogs of America “puppy-in-training" vest. Over the years, Gene and his wife Monique have raised nine service-assistance dogs. When I asked about Destiny's yellow vest, Gene explained, "We want her to associate the vest with working; we want her to get focused and understand that she is about to perform an important job to which she must give her full attention. In other words 'no more messing around.'” He then shared, “You know, now that I think about it, it’s a lot like Ephesians 6:14 where followers of Jesus are told to, ‘Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.’ When we snap on that breastplate in the morning, it’s like that working vest – a signal that we are about to perform a very important job for the Lord to which we...

Ryleigh's Ministry: Ken, Joni, and RyleighRecently when I was in Pennsylvania, I met Ryleigh, a little girl with a great big heart for Jesus. Ryleigh used the Joni book to give a report to her class (complete with sitting in a wheelchair with a pen in her mouth :-). Her teacher, Mr. Baughman, is also a Christian, and he was so impressed with her report that he contacted Joni and Friends to tell us about Ryleigh. We sent Mr. Baughman 20 copies of the “WHY?” booklet for his school library, and to pass out to other children. And Ryleigh returned the favor to her teacher -- she came and asked Ken and me to sign a copy of Joni & Ken: An Untold Love Story for him. Kudos to you, Ryleigh, for thinking of creative, wonderful ways to encourage your teacher and share the Gospel with your classmates!

Romans 1:20 says, "For since the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." I thought about this verse when I watched this amazing video of the flight of starlings over the plains in in Otmoor, England – it will have you shaking your head in wonder at God's perfect design of birds and their murmurations. Admittedly, another verse came to mind after I watched the video: "Even the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirements of the Lord" (Jeremiah 8:8). On this beautiful day of worship, may we not only know the requirements of the Lord, but follow them with all our hearts!
