Cultivating a Heart of Gratitude

Happy Lord’s Day! This morning, as Ken and I were getting ready for church, we stopped my regular ‘bed bath-exercise’ routine for a minute to pray at the side of my bed. We gave thanks to the Lord. Yes, we were tired. Yes, I had a difficult night of pain. And yes, it was another day of quadriplegia and my same morning routine. But Lamentations 3:22-24 reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning — no matter what the disability or hardship.

So today, would you grab hold of God’s mercy, and join me in lifting to the Lord a heart of gratitude? Friend, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, so this week I’m thanking God for all things… for my wheelchair, which lets me come to Joni and Friends to share the Good News with people with disabilities… for my husband, and the many ways he loves and cares for me (and 35 years of marriage!)… and for friends like you, who pray for me and the ministry. And to help you cultivate a heart of gratitude, I want to share with my pamphlet, “A Thankful Heart in a World of Heart,” which will be available on our website this Monday (November 20th). It’s a resource that will help you find thankfulness and joy when life gets rough. Just tune-in to your local Christian radio station or listen online to this week’s radio programs for a free copy — and be encouraged!
