Drowning in Pain

Drowning in PainAfter I returned from a recent speaking engagement in Kentucky, the following days were extremely painful. I felt as though every joint and nerve in my body was deluged with pain. I was barely able to keep my nose above water. I was ultra-focused on my discomforts until my get-up girl showed me this image. It’s the perfect picture of Isaiah 43:2, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.”

That powerful painting (notice Jesus is walking on the water), along with that verse in Isaiah, gave me the encouragement I needed to keep reaching out to Jesus in my pain. When He became my focus, I found the abiding comfort only He can offer. Friend, maybe you need a reminder as I did…you are not alone. Whatever your affliction, Jesus is reaching out to you and He will pull you up and out of deep water.
