Eric Jones

Vice President of Field Services

Formerly an Area Director of Joni and Friends’ Texas office, Eric Jones serves as Vice President, Field Services, overseeing national and international ministries from the Joni and Friends International Disability Center in southern California. As an ordained pastor with experience in disability ministry, Eric has a unique claim to fame within the organization, as one of the first to complete the Beyond Suffering Courses developed by the Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability.

Eric first began working with Joni and Friends as a pastor, seeking the organization’s expertise and assistance in developing a fruitful disability ministry at his own church. He recognized early on the need for the Church to be more intentional about reaching out to individuals with disabilities, and God has given him a heart for those who are excluded. He is compelled by Scripture and the Holy Spirit’s work in his life to do everything in his power to usher people with disabilities into the presence of Jesus.

It was through these experiences and his work as a volunteer at Joni and Friends Family Retreats in southern California that Joni and Friends leadership recognized his heart and abilities, and asked him to join the team as the Joni and Friends Texas Area Director in 2014. His gifts in the areas of Staff Care and Development, Financial Stewardship and Development and Ministry Oversight and Development have served him well at Joni and Friends. Other ways he can be an asset to the ministry include in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving, and contributing to organizational structure and health.

A Georgia native, Eric received his undergraduate degree from Atlanta Christian College before moving to California to attend Fuller Theological Seminary. Since graduating with his M.A. in Christian Leadership, Eric has furthered his education at California Baptist University with continuing education courses in Disability Studies, such as the Beyond Suffering Course developed by Joni and Friends and offered in multiple universities around the nation.

Eric and his wife Stevi have been married for 11 years and have four children – three daughters and one son – and reside in Southern California once again after living a few years in Plano, Texas, while serving the ministry there. He is a member of Christian Leadership Alliance and has been awarded a Certificate in Christian Nonprofit Leadership, recognizing his abilities in staff care and development, financial stewardship and development, and ministry oversight and development.
