Facing the Blitz: When Trials Knock You Down

Facing the Blitz: When Trials Knock You DownLife’s hardships can really knock you down — I know this firsthand as a quadriplegic. After I broke my neck in a diving accident at the age of 17 and as a result was paralyzed from the shoulders down, the reality of quadriplegia was too heavy for me to bear.

My friend Jeff Kemp, a former NFL quarterback, compares these kinds of trials in life to a “blitz” — that is, when additional players are sent to try to tackle the quarterback or disrupt his pass attempt. Everything is going smoothly … and then you get tackled by a blitz: your marriage crumbles into pieces, you receive a dire diagnosis, or your best friend smears your reputation. When difficulties come, how do you get past the pitfalls of defeat and depression into a place of hard-won contentment and joy?

Jesus said in John 16:33 that “in this world we will have trouble.” But that doesn’t mean we cannot face our trials with grace. And in his new book, “Facing the Blitz,” Jeff Kemp shows us how. It’s a wonderful book that will guide you through times of adversity, and you can learn more about it by clicking here. Because remember, with Christ, your trials can become triumphs.
