Pathway to BelongingThe fourth book to launch in our Irresistible Church series, “Pathways to Belonging,” is designed to help you and your church evaluate whether a buddy program, hybrid program, or self-contained classroom will best meet the needs of those affected by disability in your congregation. The book is available as a free Kindle download on Amazon and other online bookstores.

The first book in the series, “Start with Hello,” quickly shot to #1 in the social issues and special needs category on Amazon, showing the need for individuals and churches who want to serve the disability community but don’t know where or how to start. The second book, “We’ve Got This!,” introduced an entry-level ministry idea of providing respite for those with disabilities and their families. The third book, “Engaging Game Changers,” emphasizes the importance of volunteers to any disability ministry.

And now, “Pathways to Belonging” provides practical advice on evaluating the needs of the individuals you serve, helping you to create plans that allow everyone with special needs to participate and thrive in the life of your church. “We must recognize that each of our friends who have disabilities is uniquely gifted and lovingly created in God’s image,” author Debbie Lillo writes. “It is our responsibility to create a culture that welcomes these individuals and their families, that shares the gospel with them in a way that is sensitive to their learning styles and physical needs, and that helps them to discover and practice the gifts God has given them.” This book emphasizes the importance of making everyone feel welcome and that they fully belong.

All of the books in the Irresistible Church series are free, short resources – 50 pages or so. They are written as practical guides to effective special needs ministry, from the very first steps of gauging the need and cataloging available resources. These guidelines are designed to work in any church, no matter the size, budget, or leadership style. Each book includes several free downloadable resources available on the Irresistible Church website.
