Friday, Sept. 24th Update from Joni:

Before I say anything else, I’m thrilled at the disabled people and their families who responded to the Good News of Jesus at the recent Wheels for the World outreach in Ukraine and the Wounded Warrior Getaway in Maryland (put on for wounded soldiers by Joni and Friends/Eastern PA and Walter Reed Hospital)! There are other great reports coming in from other events, but these two were on my heart and, hey, when you pray for me through chemo, you get double the blessing – because I add a P.S. to your prayers: “And Jesus, as my blog friends lift me up, make their prayers count for thousands of other disabled people who need your help even more.” So there you go 🙂

I could literally feel your petitions open the door to the chemo clinic on Thursday morning. When I wheeled in, there sat a woman receiving chemo in the large chair right next to my place — and she was reading the Joni book! It seems she had written Joni and Friends a month or so ago and, because of her unusual circumstances (cancer recurring…her son in Iraq…etc.), I quickly responded and sent her my book. When she mentioned her name, I remembered the whole thing (didn’t realize she took chemo at the same clinic). So there’s a woman (and her soldier son) who will be the happy recipients of many intercessions! There were other little things throughout the morning, but I just wanted you to know that, yes, God is answering!

The search is over and I learned that there are no stats on quads receiving chemotherapy. I suddenly felt very alone. Yet as quickly as it came, it dissipated “because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5). So there you go again :-). And the promise is yours to embrace today. And another? It’s gotta be John 4:11, When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” That’s one I’m claiming big-time! Onward and upward into these next fragile 7–9 days of recovery. Bless you for praying; I’m loving your verses and the occasional hymns!
