Running with God’s Word

Track for runnersYears ago, when I was on my feet and used to play field hockey in high school, our coach had a thing about running laps after practice. I was already dog-tired and by the fifth lap, I would be dragging — but that’s when I’d kick in with this little habit of mine to help keep me focused. As I would run, I would half sing in rhythm of my stride the verse from 1 Timothy chapter 2: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, for there is one God and one mediator, the man Christ Jesus.” It may sound strange, but something about that verse helped me stay focused on running those laps. Today, I can’t use my legs to run around a race track, but I do run this Christian race while keeping in rhythm with God’s Word. Friend, life is not easy. We’ve got many more laps to run — so, guard God’s Word in your heart and you’ll run this race strong!
