games being played at guatemala family retreatThis week completed our Family Retreat in Guatemala where volunteers served 17 special needs families, many of whom turned to Christ for salvation! Initially, when our team arrived to set up for the Retreat, there was great opposition: the roads to the retreat site were blocked by protesters. Then, the bus bringing the families was delayed because a high tension electric pole fell across the road. Finally, when Family Retreat got underway, then the lights went out – but thankfully, a generator provided power for the sound system and the entire camp worshiped with all their heart and strength! (Such is life in a developing nation :-). It gave fresh meaning to the theme for our retreat “Press On!” Please be praying that the adversary will be defeated in the lives of these needy families and that Christ will be exalted in all their hearts!
