At Home on the Water

Joni and Lori in front of MoxieLast weekend we drove out to the Channel Islands Harbor for fish and chips – while meandering the docks, we realized we were near the home of our co-worker Lori, Manager of Visual Media at Joni and Friends. But I want you to know Lori’s “home” is a 34 foot sailboat (she named her boat Moxie, a character quality she does not lack :-)! After a fun visit, all the way home I kept singing this beautiful old hymn that my father, who served in the merchant marines, taught me (and Lori, it’s my prayer for you)

Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treacherous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee;

Jesus, Savior, pilot me. When at last I near the shore,
And the fearful breakers roar
’Twixt me and the peaceful rest,
Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”
