A Humble Nativity...

nativity sceneOver the weekend, Ken and I really spruced up our home for Christmas. He put up white Christmas lights on the eaves of our house, and I set out a few pine-scented candles and poinsettias around the living room. Last night we arranged our Nativity scene on the fireplace mantel (that's Daddy's painting hanging above the mantel). As we moved the figurines this way and that, I tried hard to imagine what the first Nativity actually looked and felt like (growing up on a Maryland farm, I'm familiar with wooden mangers that held hay for our horses). I'm amazed that from His first moments on earth to His last, the life of Jesus reflected simplicity, humility, and lowliness of heart - even in His birth, Jesus was reaching out to identify with us in our weakness; what a Savior! Oh, during this beautiful Advent season may our lives reflect His simplicity and lowliness of heart. That's my prayer for Ken and me... and my prayer for you this week, too.

Dear Joni, how merciful God has been to you! Since I received a revelation of an all-knowing God whose understanding has no limit (Ps 147:5),that is why I know the best way to go,is the way of God.We can't fathom this life but if we have a grasp of the mind and power of God then we can rejoice in our Lord Jesus!

Funn story...My kids where given a manger scene a couple of years ago, of course the pieces are distrubuted all over the house (they are six and eight years old), but one day out of the blue my six year old son yells out loud "I FOUND JESUS!" we where just laughing! Too funny! Thanks for being such a blessing! Merry Christmas!

Hi, I would like to say how beautiful your mantle piece looks and the picture looks a little like what the outside of the nativity scene might have looked like, very nice of you to share and may God' blessings be with you all.

I am so glad that I subscribed to you on Facebook recently. Many years ago, I read your book and I still have a songbook of yours called Joni's Song. Thanks for sharing your picture and message this week. I too, want to stay focused on Jesus being the Reason for the Season. God Bless Ken and you.
