Meet Mallory and Zach

Mallory and ZachRecently, Zach Holler and his sister Mallory came by the International Disability Center for a visit — these two have BVVL syndrome, a rare, progressive, neurodegenerative motor neuron disorder. They are virtually blind, deaf, paralyzed, and are fed with a tube — here you can see their parents, Greg and Kim, communicating with them by hand-signing into their hands.

(Greg and Kim have to get very close to their children’s eyes so that Zach and Mallory can lip read along with the hand signs)

Mallory and Zach

With all these disabilities, the Holler family has an unflappable devotion to Jesus Christ, and my time with them was so INSPIRING! They will be attending Family Retreat next year at Shawnee Resort in Ohio, and I couldn’t be happier. I also wanted you to see the American flag Mallory painted for me with her mouth.

May God’s grace keep shining on these two remarkable young Christians who are showing us the smiles that can be found on the other side of suffering!
