Obedience to God

Recently I was listening to an interview with Tim Keller on Focus on the Family – Tim wrote a book that I frequently recommend called Walking with God through Pain and Suffering. Tim referenced Satan’s question to God, “Does Job serve God for nothing?” From that, he drew a remarkable conclusion: “We have to come to a place where we know that our obedience to God will bring us no benefit.” That’s when true change, as well as true obedience occurs – and often God uses pain and suffering to bring us to that place of utter humility.
