Pray for Tomorrow!

Daniel Stratman and Joni Eareckson Tada

It’s been a busy season of travel these last few months, and I’m still reflecting on it all – like giving the Gospel in churches that filled up for Joni movie showings, and promoting the work of our Area Ministry teams.

No matter where I visit Joni and Friends ministries around the country, I’m always connecting with old and new friends who have disabilities (here’s a snapshot of me and Daniel Stratman when I was in Arizona; we’re kibitzing about the latest USC scores). Nothing’s more heartening than ‘catching up’ with fellow wheelchair-users who could easily write the book on perseverance—I always wheel away having learned so much about the Lord Jesus and His amazing grace in their lives.

And yes, my recent birthday celebration made me realize that I can’t keep up this kind of pace. And yet, I still want to squeeze every ounce of ministry out of my quadriplegic body as I possibly can. My disability is hard and, yes, it involves pain, but… I still delight in telling the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

So, as I wheel up to the microphone in the recording studio tomorrow for another full day of radio programs, please be praying that the Holy Spirit will grace my words with fresh fire. I so long for each listener to draw closer to Christ through their hardships, understanding more fully the truths of the Gospel. And thank you for joining me onward and upward, as I “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
