Ramp in Cuba

For over 16 years, Joni and Friends has been delivering wheelchairs and Bibles to people affected by disability in Cuba. We’ve also held some International Family Retreats for Cuban special needs families. During this time, we have built great relationships and helped establish a biblical worldview on disability, helping the Cuban people see that all people are made in the image of God. Several years ago, one of our partners, a Cuban pastor of a lively evangelical church in Santiago de Cuba, established the Christian Center for Service and Training. The Center focused on reaching out to include those with disabilities. However, the facility, located in a house built in 1916, was totally inaccessible.

But through the generosity of donor-friends here in the States, Joni and Friends was able to help fund a wheelchair ramp which will enable people affected by disability to come and attend workshops, visit the library, and enjoy worship. I thank God for not only the initiative of Cuban Christians who have a heart to reach the disabled for Christ, but I thank the generosity of American Christians who are making eternal investments in the lives of hundreds of Cuban families. It’s an example of Psalm 86:9, “All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.” Join me in thanking God for changing hearts here in America and in Cuba!
