Special Olympic Athlete

Summer is here — and so are the Special Olympics! Tomorrow will be the Opening Ceremony for the World Games, and I could not be more excited. The Special Olympics is the world’s largest organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and this summer, athletes will show the world their incredible courage, unwavering determination and sheer joy as they compete in 25 sporting events. Los Angeles will become the gathering site for 7,000 athletes from around the world who have had their share of “hard hits” and I can’t wait to cheer them on! The competitions and Opening Ceremony start tomorrow — and you won’t want to miss it! So, turn on your TVs to KABC-TV or set your DVRs to record the games on ESPN— or if you’re in the L.A. area, attend the games for free. As these champions compete, join me in prayer for each athlete and their families and take a moment to be inspired by their life testimony as they show their world their God-given gifts!
