Tuesday, August 10th Update from Joni:

When I read the many cards, e-mails, and posts on the blog, I feel humbled to be the recipient of so much prayer! And whether night or day, I’m urging my spirit to rise up and receive every endowment from God’s hand that might come through your prayers – if someone wants to bless me through their intercessions, I’ll be the first to say “I receive it!” And I’ve needed the refreshment that comes through the prayers of God’s people – dealing with quadriplegia, my old nemesis pain, and the rigors of chemotherapy have been challenging, but I keep singing that wonderful refrain:

“All the way my Savior leads me, cheers each winding path I tread;
gives me grace for every trial, feeds me on the Living Bread.
When my weary steps may falter, and my soul a-thirst may be,
gushing from the Rock before me, lo! A spring of joy I see!”

I’ve nearly completed one week of chemotherapy and although the conclusion of this winding path seems far distant, I’m bolstered by the doctors’ optimism. This may seem redundant, but the most important prayer requests still remain the most basic…

  • That my bones and immune system remain strong
  • The chemo drugs destroy any and all cancer cells
  • And that Ken and I shine the grace of Jesus Christ to everyone we encounter on this journey!
