Winter on the Farm

The recent snowstorms make me think of winter back on our Maryland farm – I would sit by the living room window and look out on our snow-covered fields and the barn blanketed in white. One cold afternoon, I wheeled up to my easel and even sketched the peaceful, snowy scene. Isn’t it wonderful how such serene beauty can result from a harsh, cold blizzard? It reminds me of this quote from Richard Sibbs, “Just as the winter prepares the earth for spring, so do our afflictions prepare our souls for glory.” Today, remember that your life is not a straight line leading to heaven, but a winding and twisted road – it’s all meant to help you ‘feel in your bones’ your need of God. Pause and think on that, and have a blessed Sunday, friend.
