After 20 years of faithful service, our President and Chief Operating Officer Doug Mazza has announced his retirement, which is planned for January 2019. Through Doug's leadership, passion for the Gospel, and love for people with disabilities (Ryan, his significantly disabled son, is his inspiration), God has dramatically expanded the outreach of Joni and Friends. Over the next few months, Doug will continue to lead the ministry, overseeing and implementing the transition to the new President, John Nugent, who currently serves as Chairman of the Joni and Friends Board of Directors.

Here are a few words from Doug…

“Jesus said, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ (Luke 14:21 NIV) What He didn’t tell us is that when we do, the blessings that await us will be overwhelming. Serving these past 20 years, wherever Christ has opened a door for us to go, has allowed me to see suffering eased, the Gospel delivered, the Kingdom expanded, and has provided a contentment that can only be describe as a foretaste of heaven!”

We thank Doug for serving with excellence and we are grateful that he will continue to serve on the Joni and Friends Board of Directors following his retirement. Please join us in prayer as God leads him into a new season of ministry!
